This Blended Intensive Programme is run by four European Universities (Hanze Hogeschool Groningen, Netherlands; IPB Braganca, Portugal; SETU Waterford, Ireland; University of Cracow, Poland; HSB, Germany)
Digital Challenge-Based Learning (DCBL) arises from integrating digital transition themes, concerns, technologies, and/or tools into the Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) framework, applying active methodologies, supported by lean design, design thinking and end to end problem design, in future oriented approach, structured in the following steps:
- TEAM ENGAGEMENT (facilitator, students, partner): get familiar with case exploring the context, identify stakeholders and list all, field work preparation, meet up with external partner;
- UNDERSTAND THE PRESENT SITUATION: Individual observation; Individual investigation, Study users and selected stakeholders, Document findings;
- IDEATE: Identify insights; Understand the stakeholders; Develop analogies; Grow common understanding; Create solutions; Present two pager to external partner;
- VALIDATE: Validation by peers, Validation by experts, Review of the requirements, Debate Minimum value proposition to external partner;
- DESIGN AND ITERATE: Improve / develop solutions, Test and validate until final state;
- DEMONSTRATE: Prototyping the solution(s); Feedback gathering (experts, mentors, users); Final Pitch Preparation; Invite external partner to final pitch.
HSB students
- Acquire skills to contribute productively and professionally with all parties and contribute to multidisciplinary, multicultural and transnational team activities.
- Understand problems, the value of user empathy, and how to develop relevant ideas.
- Develop comprehensive project planning addressing the key activities and milestones of the project.
- Adapt and respond to challenges proactively.
- Collaborate productively with team members on all aspects of the challenge/project.
- Research a real problem/challenge for the live case scenario and derive insights and solutions.
- Create innovative, creative and effective solutions to the challenge and address the needs of the client/stakeholder(s).
- Examine and define problems through exploration of the underlying and wider issues.
- Determine where to acquire the information and tools necessary to solve the problem.
- Evaluate and prioritise how to solve the problem
