Hochschule Bremen - University of Applied Sciences

Hochschule Bremen

The Hochschule Bremen joined together with six other excellent German universities of applied sciences to UAS7 (Seven Universities of Applied Sciences), in order to promote its teaching and research activities. Partners in that alliance are Berlin School of Economics and Law, Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, Munich University of Applied Sciences, Münster University of Applied Sciences and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.
UAS7 see themselves as universities of applied sciences with demanding standards in teaching and practical research. Together they work out common quality criteria, in order to further expand their high level and appear in particular abroad as a strong group.
The original founding impulse in the year 2004 had the goal to show together more presence on the American education market and to expand their cooperation with American universities. The liaison, office which was created for that purpose in New York, has been advertising since 2005 for the study programs at the universities participating in the Alliance UAS7 and promotes the exchange of American and German students within the scope of courses, study or internship stays.
Since 2007, the alliance has been acting as registered association with a branch office in Berlin. In their newly organised cooperation, the seven universities of applied sciences do not only promote inter-university scientific projects with an international presence and orientation but they also want to learn from each other and carry out inter-university projects. Within the scope of UAS7, common standards like job guidelines are worked out and best practice examples from the administration are exchanged.

Currently the committee of UAS7 e.V. is composed of Prof. Dr. phil. Joachim Metzner (Rector of Cologne University of Applied Sciences) and Prof. Dr. Michael Stawicki (President of Hamburg University of Applied Sciences), headed by the chairman Prof. Dr. Bernd Reissert (Rector of Berlin School of Economics and Law). Claus Lange is the branch manager.
