For students and staff, the Computer Centre operates a wireless network (Wi-Fi) at all HSB locations.
Two Wi-Fi networks are available for different purposes, with the names “eduroam” and “Hochschule-Bremen”:
By participating in the roaming service of the “German National Research and Education Network” (DFN), Bremen University of Applied Sciences is connected to the international educational roaming project. Via eduroam, users at participating institutions receive network access without additional registration. This means that all members of the Bremen University of Applied Sciences can also connect to the internet at other eduroam locations worldwide with their user account.
A valid user account from Bremen University of Applied Sciences is required to log on to the “eduroam” Wi-Fi. Students and employees of other universities log in with the user ID of their home institution.
All students and staff have access to data services of the Hochschule Bremen, as well as to the internet via the Wi-Fi “eduroam”. For security reasons, not all internal network services are accessible from this Wi-Fi.
Access to the Wi-Fi “eduroam” is secured via a WPA2-encrypted connection.
The connection to the Wi-Fi “eduroam” is made via the login service www.easyroam.de. There, certificates (profiles) for your devices are generated and made available after a successful login with the corresponding app. Further information on easyroam can be found in the DFN configuration instructions and the Wiki pages of the HSB.
Students and employees of the Hochschule Bremen who currently log in to eduroam with their username and password must switch to the certificate-based log-in via easyroam by 01.03.2023. After this date, it will no longer be necessary to connect to eduroam using a username and password.
The Wi-Fi network “Hochschule-Bremen” is freely accessible to all, unencrypted and provides access to our website. It is also used to activate user accounts for newly enrolled students, to set up eduroam access and as internet access for guests who do not have access to eduroam.
