The International Summer School is going online from July 3 – July 13, 2023.

Be part of our virtual International Summer Session

New situations require new formats. That's why we're going online with our summer programme to offer a selection of cutting‐edge topics. It is open to undergraduate and graduate students from HSB-partner universities as well as HSB-students. Study in a unique international setting and earn credits for your academic career.

The programme includes a variety of innovative and interactive courses available for you to study online from the comfort of your home. Let’s take a look.

General Information

  • For all modules: Language of instruction is English
  • Maximum number of participants: 20 per course.
  • Workload per Course: 60 hours - 30 Teaching Units live online (45 minutes each)
    plus 30 Units group work and individual study
  • Credits: 3 ECTS credit points / 2 credit hours – US

General Information

  • The Virtual International Summer School takes place from July 3 to July 13, 2023,
  • Live class will be scheduled between 2 pm – 6 pm Central European Time / CET, alongside group work, pre-recorded sessions and other activities,
  • Each course comprises minimum 3 contact hours / teaching units (45 minutes each) per day (without weekend),
  • Attendance is compulsory for the entire programme,
  • Participants can earn credits – per course 3 ECTS and/or 2 Credit Hours US.
  • In addition to the interest in the chosen subject, we expect students to:

    • Have access to high-speed internet to participate in online classes,
    • Be keen to engage with tutors and other students,
    • Commit to the hours outlined for each programme,
    • Be open to other backgrounds and cultures, and be willing to share your own background.

    Proof of English Proficiency

    Since all courses, with the exception of German language courses, are taught in English, a proof of ability to study in English is required for all students whose native language is not English and who are not studying in an English-speaking programme at their home university.

    In that case, one of the following certificates is required:

    • At least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
    • Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL – at least 87 points)
    • Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC – at least 750 points)
    • Cambridge Proficiency (CPE – minimum grade: C)
    • Cambridge Advanced (CAE – minimum grade: B)
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS – minimum grade: 6.0)
    • Business English Certificate (BEC 3 – minimum grade: B)
  • Attendance and successful completion of the programme are requirements for receiving credits, the Certificate of Attendance and the Transcript of Records.

    • Participants can earn 3 ECTS credit points / 2 credit hours US per course
    • Certificate of Attendance
    • Transcript of Records for recognition at the home university

Registration

The number of students per course is limited. Please note that a course will not be offered if fewer than 15 students apply.

Applications are accepted between 1 March 2023 and 28 April 2023.

  • To register for the HSB Virtual Summer School please complete the application form and email it to the HSB-International Summer School.

In addition, please send the following documents:

  • a short CV
  • transcript of records
  • proof of English competence

  • in English
  • file size: maximum 5 MB
  • file format: PDF

Please note: Only complete documents can be considered for the nomination process.

After reviewing the applications and nomination of the participants by a selection committee, the participants will receive a letter of acceptance and further information on the course by 28 April 2023 at the latest.
