Help shape a sustainable future
The new three-semester master's programme "Sustainable Business & Entrepreneurship" (SBE) at Hochschule Bremen will start in the summer semester of 2023 and is designed as a consecutive programme following a Bachelor's or Diplom degree with a predominantly business orientation. It thus builds on the basic business management content taught in the Bachelor's or Diplom degree programme as well as the essential functions of business administration (finance, accounting, HR, etc.), and deepens this knowledge by focusing on topics and competences that are important for sustainable company development and currently in demand in practice.
In addition, students are taught the skills and knowledge needed for independent entrepreneurial activity. For example, in the "Innovation & Entrepreneurship Lab" (I&E Lab), students acquire the skills required to develop innovative business models and to start a company. The post-graduate course encompasses cooperation with FreiRAUM@HSB at Hochschule Bremen and other institutions in Bremen's diverse start-up ecosystem.
In addition to a strong orientation to practice, students also have the opportunity to discuss and critically reflect upon current research and methods. They also learn about the necessary framework conditions for sustainable management and entrepreneurial action: from ethics and relevant legislation to interdisciplinary aspects of sustainability. There is also the possibility of international exchange with students, lecturers and practitioners.
Successful completion of the Master's programme opens up diverse and attractive career prospects.
In future, employees and especially (prospective) managers at more and more levels of the company will have to deal with the diverse issues surrounding sustainability. This calls for a combination of economic expertise as well as knowledge of the current challenges and opportunities of sustainable business management.
Employers are therefore increasingly looking for the requisite key skills and competences. Employees with an "entrepreneurial mindset" are sought, who as "intrapreneurs" help to make business models fit for the demands of the future with entrepreneurial and innovative thinking. And of course, once possessing such skills, you can also become self-employed with a business idea of your own.
Courses are taught in German or in English. Good knowledge of both languages is therefore essential.
In the module "Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development in a Global Context", a joint project is planned in cooperation with an institution in another country.
Students may also opt to spend a self-organised semester abroad. Faculty members will offer advice and assist in establishing the requisite contacts.
