A general study of business administration or a specialization in retail?

With the study program " Management im Handel B.A. (MiH)" this is not an either or, instead you will be given both: You will acquire basic skills in economics and at the same time deepen your knowledge in topics that are currently occupying the retail industry, from e-commerce to sustainability.

Understand theoretical basics and study practically at the same time?

Since the beginning, the program has been cooperating with numerous well-known retail companies, so that the study content is based on the actual needs of retail-oriented companies. A one-semester internship also gives you insights into the corporate world and is an integral part of the degree program.

Career prospects

Gain a versatile insight into the world of retail and at the same time build up comprehensive business management skills?

At the end of your Bachelor's program "Management im Handel B.A." you will have the skills for the optimal career start in a wide variety of companies. Our graduates work in a wide variety of fields, from e-commerce, category management, marketing and supply chain management to human resources management - or they use their acquired knowledge and skills to start their own business.

Programme structure

1st to 4th semester: Basic business administration and international skills - focused on the retail sector

The central subject is business administration with a focus on commerce. In addition, methodical knowledge in mathematics, statistics, project management and trade informatics/digitalization is taught. Furthermore, intercultural and international topics are covered, which, in combination with the foreign language component (English), provide international competence from the very beginning.

Semester 5: Hands-on - The practical semester

In the fifth semester, the fundamentals and theories you have learned are supplemented by practical experience during an internship. You can choose to do this either in Germany or abroad.

6th and 7th semesters: Individual focus of studies and (award-winning) degree

Your studies will be completed by the selection of two specializations, which will accompany you until graduation. You can choose from four exciting subject areas:
- Marketing and e-commerce
- Supply Chain Management
- Corporate Management
- Human Resource Management
Parallel to your major studies, you will write your bachelor's thesis, which is the final step in your studies.
Incidentally, the Conzen Foundation has been promoting the academic theses of the program for more than twenty years, with a jury awarding prizes each year to the best bachelor theses from a retail perspective.

Internationality

Today, more than ever, retail is also an international business. With the MiH degree program, you will gain the necessary intercultural competence already during your studies in Bremen and can deepen it even further with a stay abroad. A stay abroad is not compulsory in the Management in Commerce B.A. (MiH) degree program, but is of course possible. In addition to the option of benefiting from a close network of European and non-European companies that offer you internships, you can also complete individual parts of your studies abroad.
