Nursing is a fast-growing area of the services sector in Germany. Highly qualified nursing professionals, both in outpatient and inpatient care facilities as well as in clinics and other areas of health care, are in high demand.
With the introduction of the new Nursing Professions Act, it is now also possible to study nursing as an academic subject in Germany. Go for it!
The advantages over conventional vocational training include:
In addition to providing nursing care to people in all sectors of health care, you can also take on tasks such as advising patients and caring relatives, staff training, planning and networking health and nursing services or implementing the latest findings from nursing science into practice. In addition to your excellent career prospects in the German and European health care systems, you also have good career opportunities outside of Europe because of the international orientation of the degree programme.
The Bachelor's degree entitles you to take up further Master's studies. Graduates of the international Bachelor's degree programme in Nursing at the Hochschule Bremen are also eligible to apply for the Master's degree programme in ‘Community and Family Health Nursing’ at the University of Bremen: Moreover, there is also the possibility to have 135 credits recognised for the vocational teacher training programme in nursing at the University of Bremen.
The degree programme is primary qualifying. This means that the Hochschule Bremen is exclusively responsible for the entire programme, including the training modules undertaken in practice. Such practical modules are an integral part of the degree programme in each semester. You complete a total of 13 practical modules in different health care facilities, such as clinics, outpatient care services, counselling centres or in palliative care. The Hochschule Bremen is responsible for the coordination.
