Are you interested in how ships and marine systems are designed, constructed, manufactured and tested and do you dream of a future career in the field of ocean engineering? Then you are on the right track with the Bachelor's degree programme in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at the Hochschule Bremen!

Together with technical and methodological skills, your intrapersonal and interpersonal competences will be enhanced and you will learn to deal with the technical challenges of modern seagoing vessels and ocean engineering.

After completing your studies, you will be able to choose from a large spectrum of career opportunities in the field of shipbuilding and marine technology, both in Germany and abroad. So what are you waiting for? Full speed ahead!

Career prospects

The career prospects for shipbuilding engineers are promising, also in terms of working hours and pay. Graduates are sought in the regional maritime sector, but also throughout Germany and in many other countries. Areas of professional activity include shipbuilding and related subcontracting, engineering consultancies, shipping companies, shipbuilding test facilities, maritime institutions and related professions such as steel construction, plant engineering or aircraft construction. Shipbuilding engineers work in a pronounced international environment with customers and suppliers from all over the world.

Graduates usually start in case processing before moving on to more responsible positions in project management. A further career step is the management of an entire new shipbuilding project or of a specialist group in a company. Further career steps include departmental management, executive management positions or even self-employment.

Programme structure

  • Profile-building modules in Blue Sciences for selected degree programmes that expand your interdisciplinary competences:
