Research Activities at the Centre for Teaching and Learning

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (ZLL) focuses its research on Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) as well as on study and teaching. What sets us apart is our practice-oriented approach, providing an insider perspective that closely engages with the unique challenges and questions faced by this type of institution.

On this page, you will find information about our current and completed research projects, publications, and key contacts.

Our profile

By incorporating higher education and media didactics, curriculum development, evaluation, educational technologies, and extracurricular programmes for students, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (ZLL) at Bremen University of Applied Sciences offers a broad range of services tailored to various target groups and stakeholders within the context of studying and teaching.

Close integration with the university’s academic management and the UAS7 network — including areas such as quality management, strategic and institutional planning, the International Office, and Career Service — enables the ZLL to function as a central interface between higher education and science research, bridging theory and practice.

This networking is accompanied by scientific research and development projects that purposefully connect theoretical questions with practical challenges in studying, teaching, and continuing education, systematically applying the findings to enhance higher education practice. A distinctive feature of the ZLL is its dedicated research on universities of applied sciences (UAS). Conducting this research from within a UAS provides a unique insider perspective and close engagement with its specific issues and challenges.
