Do you have an inquiring mind? Have you always been interested in European affairs and would like to study on an international campus? But you are not quite sure yet whether you would later like to work in the security of the public sector or in the unknowns of the private sector? Do you value having an overview of the whole picture and the flexibility to decide later where your career path should lead you?

Then consider enrolling in the 'European B.A. degree programme Business and Public Administration'.

We can offer you a practice-oriented European degree programme that will qualify you for jobs either in the public or the private sector. As typical generalists, you will not only acquire foundation knowledge in diverse subjects such as intercultural communication, business administration and economics, controlling or the application of European law, but you will also be secure in the knowledge that our teaching staff is there to offer you active support and encouragement throughout the seven semesters of your studies.

After you have deepened your competence in business English during your studies at HSB, you will expand your international skills through the year abroad that encompasses studies at one of our partner universities as well as a work placement. We will make sure you are well prepared for this.

Note: No application for winter semester 2025/26

Career prospects

As a diversely trained generalist, you are qualified to perform a variety of tasks and activities in the areas of public service and the private sector in Germany and abroad. Always with an eye on the future, your personal focus from the fourth semester onwards lies on building profile either in the area of public administration or that of private business. You acquire in-depth knowledge in the areas that suit you best and are important for your career path.

Your Bachelor's thesis can also be a door opener for a future career path. Either you write a more practice-oriented thesis that deals with a challenging question taken from the everyday work of a company or public department, or you follow your own research interests and pave the way to a Master's degree.

Programme structure

Foundation studies: In the first three semesters, you learn the most important basics of business administration, economics, social sciences and law. Business English and scientific methods are also on the programme.

Specialisations: In the fourth and seventh semesters, you choose two specialisations in which you deepen your knowledge and build profile. There is also plenty of room for project and team work to further develop your interpersonal skills. The ‘Social Europe Days‘ are an example of the European focus in this part of the programme.

Practice orientation

The European degree programme in Business and Public Administration is particularly practice-oriented. It combines a sound academic education with the requirements of practice. Important elements of the application-oriented teaching are:

  • All your professors and lecturers were once practitioners
  • Practice-oriented project work
  • Integrated studies and placement abroad
  • Semester and final papers written in practical projects in the private sector or in public administration
  • Guest lecturers from practice and excursions to companies and administrations

Internationality

You develop skills in an international context: intercultural competence, foreign languages and global thinking are important qualifications for us. The European degree programme in Business and Public Administration develops an international outlook and supports you both in a stay abroad at a partner university and through a work placement abroad. We support you before, during and after your year abroad in the 5th and 6th semester.
