Shaping a sustainable future.

The three-semester master's programme "Sustainable Business & Entrepreneurship" (SBE) at Hochschule Bremen is designed as a consecutive programme following a Bachelor's or Diplom degree that mainly focuses on business or management studies. It thus builds on the basic business management content taught in the Bachelor's or Diplom degree programme as well as the essential functions of business administration (finance, accounting, HR, etc.), and deepens this knowledge by focusing on topics and competences that are important to make companies and management more sustainable.

In addition, students are taught the skills and knowledge needed for independent entrepreneurial activity. For example, in the "Innovation & Entrepreneurship Lab" (I&E Lab), students acquire the skills required to develop innovative business models and to start a company. The course encompasses cooperation with the start-up-lab at Hochschule Bremen (the so-called FreiRAUM@HSB) and other institutions in Bremen's vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In addition to a strong orientation to practice, students also have the opportunity to discuss and critically reflect upon current research outcomes and methods. They also learn about the necessary conditions for sustainable management and entrepreneurial action: from business ethics and relevant legislation to interdisciplinary aspects of sustainability. There is also the possibility for discussion and exchange with students, lecturers and practitioners in other countries.

Career prospects

Successful completion of the Master's programme opens up a range of attractive career prospects.

In future, employees and especially (prospective) managers at more and more levels of the company will have to deal with the diverse issues related to sustainability. This calls for a combination of economic expertise as well as knowledge of the current challenges and opportunities of sustainable business management.

In addition, employers are therefore increasingly looking for employees with an "entrepreneurial mindset", who possess the necessary skills to innovate and act as "intrapreneurs" helping to make business models fit for the demands of the future. And of course, once possessing such skills, you can also start your own company with an innovative business idea.

Internationality

Most courses are taught in German and some in English. Good knowledge of both languages is therefore absolutely essential!

In the module "Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development in a Global Context", a joint project is planned in cooperation with an institution in another country.

Students may also opt to spend a self-organised semester abroad. Faculty members will offer advice and assist in establishing contacts to higher education institutions abroad.
