The cooperative degree programme Business Informatics and Administrative Informatics B. A. offers you a close link between theory and practice through cooperation with practice partners and working on case studies in lectures.

As a student of the cooperative degree programme, you will build up competences in the field of management and administrative law, while gaining insights into the world of IT and acquiring key competences in addition to knowledge in specialized subjects and methods:

  • Sound technical and methodological knowledge
  • Application orientation and practice reference
  • Scientific approach
  • Ability to think analytically, conceptually, and methodically
  • Communication skills and teamwork

Career prospects

Owing to the early and close connection to the practice partners, the career prospects are excellent. The practice partners make a significant investment in the students and are therefore interested in a longer-term cooperation from the outset. The quality and orientation of the degree programme itself also ensure a successful career start.

Possible future job profiles include all functions that lie in the areas of IT, management and administration. The requirement profiles for specialists and junior management are subject to constant change.

Graduates of the cooperative degree programme Business Informatics and Administrative Informatics B. A. are ideally qualified, for example, to develop and supervise processes of digitalisation as IT consultants in companies or public bodies.

Advantages of a cooperative degree programme

  • Two in one: perfect mix of theory and practice

Theory phases at HSB are flanked by practice phases at the practice partner, where you can directly apply the freshly acquired knowledge.

    Shorter training period

Compared to a vocational training in combination with a later degree, the overall time is significantly shorter with a cooperative degree programme, even if you do not opt to receive a formally certified vocational qualification with final examination. The practice phases mean that you are optimally prepared for direct entry into employment.

    Remuneration

Through the combination of study and practical phases, you will receive remuneration from your practical partner throughout the entire study period.

  • Vocational training linked to the trend towards academization

More and more young people are opting for university studies. The cooperative degree programme offers them theory and practice in one – a combination that is particularly attractive for motivated and high-performing young professionals.

Precisely tailored training of young professionals and managers

Through the combination of theory and practice, companies receive vocationally and academically well-trained, highly qualified personnel. The students are familiar with the processes in the company through their work during the practical phases and can be deployed immediately after completing their studies. There is no need for time-consuming and cost-intensive onboarding.

    Sustainable commitment to the company

Companies enable their trainees to take part in cooperative studies. In return, they can bind students’ loyalty to their employer over in the longer term. In this way, the practice partner retains the investment in the future employees. There is no need for a time-consuming and cost-intensive search for personnel.

Knowledge transfer from the university to the practice partner and back again

Students in the dual system bring the knowledge they have gained at the university directly into the company. Conversely, the university can take up the knowledge and skills learned from practice and incorporate them into the course content.

Motivated and highly qualified employees are the backbone of every company. Through them, the employer prevents shortages of skilled personnel. The cooperative degree programme in Business and Administrative Informatics at Hochschule Bremen is optimal preparation for future career paths – both for the students as well as for the practice partners.

Cooperations

HSB runs the cooperative degree programme Business and Administrative Informatics B.A. in cooperation with partner companies and public authorities in the region, who finance the places on this degree programme.

Practical relevance

The practical relevance of a cooperative degree programme is naturally very high.

The theory and examination phase at the university is followed by the practical phase with the practice partner. In the 5th semester, you work almost exclusively at your employer’s organisation.

During the studies in the 6th and 7th semesters, an ongoing intensive integration into the organisation or department is assured by the fact that the Bachelor project and thesis are usually directly connected with tasks or issues dealt with in the workplace, which you solve using scientific methods.

Through this interlocking of theory and practice, you are not only taught theoretical knowledge. You also learn to apply it directly in practice.

Practical relevance is of great importance in all courses and phases of the degree programme. Moreover, your lecturers have backgrounds of highly qualified professional experience.

Even during the degree programme, international best practice examples are repeatedly consulted or professionals are invited to give lectures.
