Information for Exchange Students

End of stay and departure

  • Visa and residence permit
  • Before coming to Germany
  • Your stay in Bremen
  • End of stay and departure

Leaving HSB

  • Lectures and exams at HSB are over. Your stay has come to an end.

You don't have to do anything - you will be automatically de-registered at the official end of the semester.

However, if you need a certificate, you can apply for de-registration in CampInO under Service -> Request -> Disenrollment. You must be logged in to CampInO to apply.

  • Contact your DIO coordinator for important documents:

    • End of stay confirmation: certificate of departure
    • Transcript of records ToR
  • By de-registration, you lose your student status.

In general, your HSB account will be blocked one month after your exmatriculation (de-enrollment) and you lose access to the University's services.

  • Before leaving Bremen, please ensure that you have returned all borrowed books and cards.

  • Return your mensa card at the service point of the Mensa Neustadtswall and at the cash desk of the Mensa Airport Campus and receive the card deposit and the remaining credit.

Leaving Bremen / Germany

  • Cancel your rental agreement, mobile contract and any subscriptions you may have as well to avoid potential problems.

  • Do you have a bank account in Germany which you won’t need at home? Cancel it in time before you leave to avoid unexpected contributions, but keep in mind that payments might still be due and you might need to make some more payments after you are gone. We recommend informing your bank a couple of weeks beforehand.

  • Your blocked account will be automatically closed once all the monthly payouts are processed after you have arrived in Germany and activated the account. You do not need to do anything for this.

If you are leaving Germany and your blocked account stull has funds in it, it may only be closed with the consent of the foreigners authority.

Make sure to de-register your residence before.

  • Before you leave Germany you must de-register your residence at the city administration (Wohnsitz abmelden).

Check here what you need to do!

  • If you have registered for German health insurance upon your arrival, you will have to cancel it, too. In general, they will ask you to send them a letter of cancellation, proof of departure (e.g. air ticket), copies of your confirmation of de-registration and the statement of the registration office about your notice of departure.
