  • Higher education entrance qualification
  • pre-programme work placement of 8 weeks (4 weeks may also be possible), vocational training or placement during year 11 of the technical secondary school (Fachoberschule) in an industrial or craft metal profession reduces the placement to 4 weeks. Are you interested in how industrial plants, automobiles, aircraft, ships or electrical devices are designed, constructed, manufactured and tested? Then study mechanical engineering!

The aim of the degree programme in mechanical engineering at the Hochschule Bremen is to provide a broad range of qualifications that meet the requirements of industry. The degree programme offers you a future-oriented and versatile education in the field of mechanical engineering. Planning, implementation and monitoring of the manufacturing of industrial products, including business management aspects, are characteristic contents of the degree programme.

The degree programme qualifies you to work as a mechanical engineer in the areas of manufacturing technology, production, planning and development, such as:

Programme structure

The degree programme in Mechanical Engineering is structured according to the ‘Bremen Model’. Based on a programme duration of 7 semesters, each semester consists of 5 modules, each carrying 6 ECTS credits.

In the 1st and 2nd year of study, you acquire relevant foundation knowledge in mathematics, science and technology.

In the 3rd year of study, you will complete a practical semester in industry, which is supervised by a university lecturer. You complete your studies with the Bachelor's thesis in the 7th semester.
