Das Projekt zur Konzeptualisierung, Messung und Stärkung der finanziellen Verbraucherresilienz (Penia) basiert auf Theorien und Methoden der Psychologie, (Verhaltens-)Ökonomie und Finanzwirtschaft. Ziele des Forschungsprojektes sind die Entwicklung eines Modells der finanziellen Verbraucherresilienz und darauf aufbauend die Konzipierung, Operationalisierung und Validierung einer Skala zur Messung dieser. Die Messung der finanziellen Verbraucherresilienz beruht auf den Pfeilern psychologische Resilienz und Financial Literacy. Aufgrund des bisher geringen Erfolgs von Interventionen, die Financial Literacy und mittelbar die finanzielle Verbraucherresilienz durch (Weiter-)Bildungsprogramme und vereinfachte Zugänge zu Finanzprodukten zu steigern, werden Techniken der Entscheidungsarchitektur, im Folgenden unter dem Begriff „Nudges“ (zu Deutsch Schubs/Stups/Anstoß) zusammengefasst, identifiziert. Unter einem Nudge versteht die Verhaltensökonomik eine Methode, das Verhalten von Menschen zu beeinflussen, ohne dabei auf Verbote und Gebote zurückgreifen oder ökonomische Anreize verändern zu müssen.
