Content

In this Blended Intensive Program (BIP) we will explore the enormous possibilities that games and gamification offer for knowledge transfer. The key word is “serious game”. A serious game is more or less the transfer of knowledge using methods and aspects that usually are applied to (digital or real world) games like role play, creating avatars, challenges, levels or rewards – and many more.

We will design gaming concepts, develop prototypes, test and evaluate them. Teams of max. 6 international students jump into methodologies like the human centered design process or design thinking to find new solutions or innovative approaches for unsolved challenges or open questions. These questions will be provided from our external partners from arts, design and culture. Our partners also act as experts and advisors for the teams.

TEAM ENGAGEMENT (facilitator, students, partner): get familiar with case

exploring the context, identify stakeholders and list all, field work preparation, meet up with external partner;

• UNDERSTAND THE PRESENT SITUATION: Individual observation; Individual

investigation, Study users and selected stakeholders, Document findings;

• IDEATE: Identify insights; Understand the stakeholders; Develop analogies; Grow common understanding; Create solutions; Present concept to external partner;

• VALIDATE: Validation by peers, Validation by experts, Review of the requirements, Debate Minimum value proposition to external partner;

• DESIGN AND ITERATE: Improve / develop solutions, Test and validate until final state;

• DEMONSTRATE: Prototyping the solution(s); Feedback gathering (experts,

mentors, users); Final Pitch Preparation; Invite external partner to final pitch.

Your solutions as a team can range from serious games in the physical world to

2D, 3D, AR or VR prototypes, depending on your skills and interests. No matter if you study humanities, social science, business management, engineering, art, design or computer sciences: We will create teams from different disciplines so that each team has a broad perspective on the challenge to be solved.
