Professor Christof Dieterle
Personal detail After studying political science, sociology and English philology, Christof Dieterle has been working as a lecturer for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) at the Language Center of the universities in the state of Bremen since 2010. In addition to his teaching activities in the field of ESP in various degree courses at the University of Applied Sciences and the University of Bremen, one of his main areas of work is the teaching of university didactic language skills in the form of further training, workshops and individual coaching for university lecturers. Content

This workshop helps university lecturers enhance their intercultural communication skills to create inclusive, effective classrooms for diverse student groups. Participants will learn strategies to navigate cultural differences, foster collaboration, and address challenges like managing varied participation styles or resolving misunderstandings. Through real-life examples—such as responding to indirect feedback or adapting teaching approaches for high-context and low-context cultures—lecturers will build confidence in promoting a positive learning environment. Topics include handling cultural expectations in group work, integrating global perspectives into curricula, and facilitating cross-cultural discussions.
