Bremen City Dialog. What's next for art in architecture in Bremen?

The Bremen City Dialogue on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. will discuss what the future holds for Kunst am Bau in Bremen. The event will take place as part of the exhibition "70 Years of Art in Construction in Germany". The panel will discuss what lessons Bremen can learn from the experiences of other German states and how art in construction can be reclaimed for building culture?

Kunst am Bau has a long tradition in Germany; in Bremen, it was an integral part of the state's Bauherr:innenaufgabe between 1950 and 1973, but was then abolished in favor of the Kunst im öffentlichen Raum program. It was not until 2011 that the program was reintroduced, after a break of almost 40 years, in addition to Art in Public Spaces in the state of Bremen. Since then, new Art in Public Places projects have been emerging again in Bremen and Bremerhaven. What lessons can we learn from this new beginning of art in/for Bremen and what experiences from other federal states can we make use of? What do we want to dare to do in order to regain art in building for the building culture of our city? The event takes place in the context of the exhibition " 70 years of art in construction in Germany".
