"Rock Paper Scissors" by Sam De Vocht (Marie Jose Van Hee Architecten)

The School of Architecture at Bremen University of Applied Sciences and the BDA im Lande Bremen cordially invite you to the POSITIONEN 2023/24 guest lecture series. We are looking forward to exciting lectures by internationally recognized and award-winning architects who will give us insights into their work.

 

We are very pleased that on Tuesday Dezember 5th, Sam De Vocht from the internationally recognized architectural office "Marie José Van Hee Architecten" will lecture at the School of Architecture in Bremen.

Since 2006, Sam de Vocht has been actively involved in the realisation and representation of various architectural projects at Marie-José Van Hee architecten. The internationally renowned architectural office was founded in 1990 by Marie-José Van Hee, whose aim was to renew the tradition of building timeless architecture. Their projects have been honored with a wide variety of architectural awards like the Belgian Prize for Architecture 2013 and recently an Ultima Award, the 2023 Flanders Prize for Architecture. In 2022, supported by Flanders State of the Art, Marie-José Van Hee and her team has shown a series of spatial interventions at the Exhibition "Marie-José Van Hee architecten. A Walk" in De Singel, Antwerp.

 

About Sam De Vocht:

Sam De Vocht is an architect, teacher and urban ecologist. He graduated in architecture, urban design, urban environment and sustainability at KU Leuven, Ghent Campus (KUL), the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (UM) and the Polytechnic University of Cataluña, Barcelona (UPC).

In 2008 he founded samenwerk , a cooperative platform that supports and inspires involved parties to create inclusive habitats. In 2022, he co-founded The Green Corridor Brussels, a space with a focus on process in art, architecture and design.

Sam De Vocht has taught at KU Leuven, Rotterdam Academy, and since 2016 at the Technical University of Delft in the Department of Architecture, where he holds a position at the Chair of Interiors Buildings Cities as lecturer, tutor in the master studios. Since 2021 he is a teaching assistant in the bachelor studios at Antwerp University. Sam is a regularly invited guest critic at various universities in the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium.
