Gastvortrag von Tony Fretton (Tony Fretton Architects / London, GB)

Die School of Architecture Bremen bietet in ihrer öffentlichen Vortragsreihe „BACKGROUND - Positionen" an der Hochschule Bremen regelmäßig Einsichten in das Werk von Architektinnen und Architekten und schafft mit den Veranstaltungen eine inspirierende Plattform zum Austausch über aktuelle Themen der Raumproduktion.

Im Sommersemester 2023 startet die Reihe mit dem international anerkannten und ausgezeichneten Architekten Tony Fretton aus London:

 

Tony Fretton (London, 1945) nimmt mit seinen "ortssensible Kunsträumen”, aber auch Wohnbauten und öffentlichen Gebäuden, einen zentralen Platz in der Londoner Architekturszene ein. Sein erstes großes Projekt war die Lisson Gallery im Jahr 1990. Heute leitet er zusammen mit James McKinney und David Owen das Büro Tony Fretton Architects.

Zu den Bauten des Büros gehören neben der Lisson Gallery, das Red House Chelsea in London, das Fuglsang Kunstmuseum in Dänemark, die britische Botschaft in Warschau, das Wohnprojekt Solid 11 in Amsterdam und seit Kurzem zwei Wohntürme in Antwerpen sowie das Rathaus von Deinze in Belgien.

Tony Fretton lehrte als Professor für Architektur an der Technischen Universität Delft (1999-2013) und Gastprofessor an der GSD Harvard (2005-2006), an der ETH Zürich (2011-2012), an der AHO Norwegen (2015-16), an der Universität von Navarra (Spanien 2016) und am ETSAB Barcelona (2017-8). derzeit lehrt er an der London Metropolitan University School of Art, Architecture and Design und als Gastprofessor an der University of East London

Seine Skizzenbücher wurden vom Victoria and Albert Museum gesammelt, seine Modelle und Zeichnungen vom Drawing Matter Trust.

‚A E I O U: Articles Essays Interviews and Out-takes by Tony Fretton' wurde im Frühjahr 2017 von Jap Sam Books veröffentlicht.

 

Tony Fretton is a principal  with James McKinney and David Owen of Tony Fretton Architects.

Buildings by the practice include the Lisson Gallery, Red House Chelsea, Fuglsang Kunstmuseum in Denmark, the British Embassy in Warsaw, Solid 11 in Amsterdam, and recently two apartment towers in Antwerp and the City Hall of Deinze in Belgium. 

Tony Fretton was Chair of Architectural Design-Interiors at the Technical University of Delft 1999-2013, and visiting professor at GSD Harvard 2005-2006, ETH Zurich 2011-2012, AHO Norway 2015-16, University of Navarre, Spain 2016 and ETSAB Barcelona 2017-8.He is currently Master of Diploma Unit 2 at the London Metropolitan University School of Art, Architecture and Design and visiting professor at University of East London.

His sketch books have been collected by the Victoria and Albert Museum, and models and drawings by the Drawing Matter Trust.
