Your space for start-up & innovation

Welcome to FreiRAUM!

FreiRAUM@HSB

Do you have innovative ideas or do you already have a concrete start-up project in mind? Would you like to further develop these ideas during your studies or as part of your work for the university? Or are you simply interested in self-employment and entrepreneurship? Would you like to learn more about these topics and get to know other people who are interested in founding a company? Then you have come to the right place!

FreiRAUM@HSB is part of the BRIDGE network and is the central and interdisciplinary contact point for students, faculty and employees of HSB for innovation and start-up projects of all kinds. FreiRAUM@HSB is an initiative to promote the start-up culture at our university and is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). We offer you a creative space where you can try things out and develop your skills. In addition to an open makerspace, we offer a wide range of events and consultations to help you turn your ideas into reality.

Opening hours

Usually from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm

Feel free to send us an e-mail at freiraum@hs-bremen.de before you would like to come by so that we can make sure that one of us is on site.

Start-up consultations

Whether you are still considering if founding a company is the right path for you or you already have concrete plans, our team supports you on your path to self-employment: from the generation of initial ideas, through the development of your business model, to property rights, financial matters and funding applications.
During the consultation, you have the opportunity to clarify general questions and to validate your idea. Together, we check whether your concept is coherent and how you can turn your project into reality. We accompany you on your way, find solutions together and provide you with the right contacts within the Bremen start-up scene. Alumni of the University of Applied Sciences can take advantage of start-up consultations as well.

Makerspace – Turn your idea into reality

In the makerspace you can implement technical start-up ideas and exchange ideas with other makers. You can build functional models or even prototypes with our equipment and guidance.
We offer:

  • 3D Printers
  • Laser Cutters
  • Productions Machining (turning, milling, drilling, sawing)
  • Soldering Station
  • Cutting Plotter
    …and more

You will be granted access to the premises and equipment after an introductory meeting with us, a general safety briefing and – depending on the device and your experience – a specific briefing. Contact us if you would like to become a maker yourself!

Co-Working Space

The FreiRAUM Co-Working Space is a place where you can work on your ideas alone or in a team. Individual workstations, group tables and our design area with smartboard and creative wall are at your disposal. You can reserve your workplace with us for recurring work sessions or for entire days or weeks at a time.

As a FreiRAUM Co-Worker, you will become part of a community of founders who are just as passionate about entrepreneurship as you are. You can exchange ideas and support each other with the challenges you might face. Furthermore, you can always reach out to the FreiRAUM team that has your back every step of the way. Accordingly, you will constantly receive feedback that will help you to develop your idea further.

Events

Pitch Präsentation Startup Wochenende FreiRAUM

In cooperation with BRIDGE, we regularly organize information sessions, networking events and creative workshops where you can learn more about the start-up process, expand your entrepreneurial skills and develop your own start-up ideas.

But that’s not all: Together with you, we seek to spread entrepreneurial spirit at HSB. We are happy to visit your classes to raise awareness for the topic of entrepreneurship and offer seminars that allow faculty members of the administration and students to familiarize themselves with new creative methods for teaching, work and everyday life. This way, we would like to create new spaces for innovation and engage in a discourse over the economic and social usability of new ideas.

If you are interested in organizing a creative workshop in your class – no matter if you are a faculty member or a student – please get in touch with us.
