Information for exchange students

Welcome to the School of International Business

Application, Nomination, Registration

Application

The School of International Business (SiB) at Hochschule Bremen would be very happy to welcome you. SiB has exchange agreements with about 100 universities worldwide.

If you are interested in a study semester or two as an exchange student, please first contact your home university.

Nomination

In order to study at SiB, you must first be officially nominated by your home university. The nomination deadline for stays at SiB starting in the winter semester is 1st June; the nomination deadline for stays in the summer semester is 15th January.

Registration

As soon as we have received your nomination by your home institution, you will receive an e-mail containing the log-in data for our application portal for exchange students. Please follow the instructions and complete the online registration as soon as possible.

Get ready for the registration by preparing the following documents to be uploaded:

  • Copy of valid passport
  • Transcript of Records
  • One photo in colour
  • English proficiency proof
  • If you intend to take classes taught in English you will need to provide evidence of your English level by uploading one (1) of the following English-language test scores, certificates or statements of confirmation on language level:

    1. International English Language Test Service (IELTS)
      minimum score 5.5 
    2. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
      minimum score:
      • paper-based: 530
      •  computer-based: 197
      • internet-based (iBT): 71 
    3. University of Cambridge – one (1) of these certificates:
      • First Certificate in English – at least grade B, or
      • Certificate in Advanced English – at least grade C, or
      • Certificate of Proficiency in English – at least grade C
    4. UNIcert level II
    5. Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB)
      minimum score 85
    6. B2 competence level certificate/confirmation from a recognised university language centre or a language instructor from your home institution based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
    7. Proof that:
      • your native (first) language is English
      • you completed your secondary school education with English as the language of instruction
      • you have spent at least one year studying or working in an English-speaking country within the last three years
