Centre for Teaching and Learning (ZLL)
Here you will find information on software, licenses and consulting services for the use of digital tools at HSB.
The ZOOM video conferencing system enables you to communicate directly with one other person or with up to several hundred participants via video and audio transmission over the internet. It also allows you to share your screen, for example to display documents and presentations, as well as using chat functions for questions, answers and polls, virtual rooms for dividing participants into working groups, and many other useful features.
Information on installation and access, as well as various guides, can also be found in our AULIS room Hochschul- und Mediendidaktik (German only).
ZOOM not only enables video conferencing, but also offers a feature-rich online whiteboard. You don’t need to be in a “live” meeting to use the whiteboard; it can also be used asynchronously, for example to set tasks to be completed by the next meeting.
For example, you can bring together several working groups or steps in a process on a single board and ‘move’ from one step to the next. The Zoom whiteboard also offers numerous templates for mind maps and visualisation, allows you to embed videos and files, and much more.
Zoom is available to all teaching staff, staff and students via their university account.
Information on installation and access, as well as various guides, can also be found in our AULIS room "Hochschul- und Mediendidaktik" (German only).
ZOOM Canvas allows you to collaborate on and share texts online, much like Google Docs. However, there are restrictions on importing and exporting files.
ZOOM Canvas is available to all lecturers, staff and students via their university account.
The Guide to ZOOM Canvas (German only) was created directly within ZOOM Canvas and therefore serves as an example.
With Wooclap, you can create slides – similar to PowerPoint – that offer additional interactive elements. For example, polls using word clouds, open-ended questions, rating scales, short quizzes and much more.
Wooclap can be used quickly and easily for both synchronous online teaching and face-to-face teaching. Participants can take part in the polls via their browser or smartphone (using a link or QR code); the results are displayed live in the presentation and can be discussed immediately.
Wooclap is available to all lecturers, staff and students via their university account.
Further information can be found in our AULIS room Hochschul- und Mediendidaktik (the page is German but links to an English user guide and English Workshops from the Wooclap Support).
LimeSurvey is a simple, fast and anonymous online survey tool that you can use for your teaching. With LimeSurvey you can create and publish surveys for research or teaching without much prior knowledge. LimeSurvey offers you a wide range of functions: there are many different question types to choose from, preconditions allow you to design complex surveys and the survey results can be exported (e.g. Excel or SPSS) so that they can be analyzed.
Lecturers and lecturers at the HSB can obtain a license for LimeSurvey from the university. Please send a short e-mail to zll-support@hs-bremen.de. Your students can participate anonymously in surveys that you create yourself without having to register.
If you want to use LimeSurvey so that your students can create surveys themselves, then your students can also obtain a free license. Requests from students to zll-support@hs-bremen.de must contain the following information:
Further information on LimeSurvey can be found in our AULIS room.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact zll-support@hs-bremen.de.
You can find workshops for these tools at ZLL courses.
The MMCC provides the HSB's video server at the Internet address video.hs-bremen.de. There, teachers and employees of the HSB can independently make videos available for streaming. The uploaded videos are automatically converted into MP4 format. Four different ranges can be set for the visibility of the videos on the server. You need a user account for the upload. You can apply for this informally by e-mail.
