Evaluation and feedback in teaching (ZLL)

Course surveys

Your chance for feedback

The course evaluations, which are carried out in selected courses every semester, are intended to give students the opportunity to anonymously give lecturer feedback on their course and at the same time enable lecturer to identify strengths and weaknesses in their teaching. Students and lecturer should exchange information about the survey results during the current course.

In the (re)accreditation process, the cumulative data for the respective study programs is considered. The surveys are carried out using the evasys tool. Additional tools are also available for surveying students and are currently in the development phase.

  • What's the point of all this?

You have the opportunity to give your lecturers anonymous feedback via course evaluations. The results are important for the faculties in order to gain insight into the quality of teaching in their degree programs. If you miss surveys on courses or specifically request them, please inform the responsible dean of studies (=quality representative) in your faculty.

    What can I do?

Your teachers will send you the access data for the surveys. Please take some time and, if necessary, request time for the survey during the course. After completing the survey, the teachers will receive their results report from us. The teachers should then meet with the students for an exchange.

We strive for more transparency in the procedures and at the same time would like you to be more involved.

    What else?

Evaluation process

  1. Receipt of the evaluation link

All teaching evaluations at Bremen University of Applied Sciences are carried out online. You will receive the evaluation link for your course from your lecturer. If in doubt, please feel free to ask!

  2. Completing the online-based questionnaire

You have the chance to give your teachers completely anonymous feedback via the evaluation link. It takes about 10 minutes to fill out.

  3. Conclusion and evaluation

At the end of the survey, your lecturer will receive the anonymous evaluation results. We would like the results to be discussed with you as part of a feedback session during the current course. This makes it possible for teaching improvements to be implemented within the current event.

  4. Quality cycle

We expressly encourage your participation in your course evaluation! Even if you no longer benefit from it directly, your fellow students will thank you.

The deans of studies (=quality officers) are responsible for the regulated implementation of course evaluations. Based on the evaluation regulations of Bremen University of Applied Sciences, you determine the courses to be evaluated and pass the information on within the faculty as early as possible to the responsible administrative staff for further processing.

Are you missing the evaluation of a course? Then please contact the relevant contact person in your faculty or contact us at evaluation@hs-bremen.de

  • The course surveys give you as a lecturer the opportunity to find out how students rate your teaching, what they value about your teaching and where students see room for improvement.

    Process description

The surveys are conducted online. The courses that are to be evaluated in the current semester are selected by the responsible deans of studies (= quality representatives) based on the evaluation regulations of the Bremen University of Applied Sciences and reported to the evaluation team by the faculty administration. Further options for registering for evaluations are described in the evaluation regulations, for example if you as a lecturer expressly wish to do so.

If you wish to end the survey (date and time), please inform your faculty or, if the survey has already been stopped, the evaluation team in good time. Please pay attention to your emails. Important: at this (mentioned) point in time, the survey will be automatically closed. Ideally, this should be during the current event so that there is still an exchange between students and lecturers.

After receiving the login details, forward them to your students. When carrying out the surveys, it is important to integrate them into the course of the course as far as possible. It is best to give your students 10-15 minutes to do this. Your individual results report will be sent to you by email immediately after the survey has been completed. It is best to choose the time of the survey so that there is still enough time in your course to discuss the results with the students and address possible areas for improvement. Many students want feedback on the surveys, regardless of whether it is positive or negative. Only the deans of studies receive a copy of all results at the end of each semester.

Evasys+ is another tool available for managing and supervising your own surveys. You can find information about this in the AULIS area that has been set up. We are pleased about your inquiry!

  • Process description

You are responsible for sending us the completed registration table for course evaluations at the beginning of each semester in coordination with your dean of studies (=quality representative). Current files, instructions, tips and examples for the preparation and implementation of course evaluations can be found in the AULIS areas. We look forward to seeing you!
