In mid-September, a Pride flag was torn down and burned on the campus of the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. The institutions of the State Rectors’ Conference and the UBRA stand in full solidarity with the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and the queer community.
Our scientific institutions are committed to fostering open, inclusive, and discrimination-free environments. We condemn this act in the strongest possible terms and view it as an attack on the democratic principles we uphold.
We stand firmly with our queer colleagues, students, and staff, as well as with all queer individuals in Germany who no longer feel safe due to the increase in attacks. We therefore call for solidarity and urge everyone to speak out against discriminatory views.
The universities in Bremen State, represented by their respective presidents (or rectors), form the Bremen State Rectors' Conference (Landesrektor:innenkonferenz Bremen - LRK). The task of the LRK is to represent the interests of the member universities in the field of education and science, in higher education policy, as well as in public, and to raise awareness of common concerns.

The alliance is characterized in particular by its multilateral strategic orientation and its commitment to strengthening research cooperation. It promotes cross-institutional research projects.
