Information for Incoming Exchange Students

Join us at Hochschule Bremen (HSB) – Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and spend an unforgettable semester abroad!
We would be delighted to welcome you to our Faculty at the Computer Science Campus (ZIMT), conveniently located near Bremen Airport, or at our Electrical Engineering Campus situated in the city centre of Bremen.

During your study abroad semester with us, you will benefit from:

  • Individual support and guidance throughout your application process and stay at HSB
  • A wide range of modules taught in English, especially during the summer semester (April to July)
  • A tuition-free German language course in cooperation with the Goethe Institute

  • Winter semester: June 30

Guide for Incoming Exchange Students

  4. Arrival and Start of your Semester
    • Your home university nominates you to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Hochschule Bremen.
    • After nomination, you will receive a confirmation email.
    • Submit the following documents for preliminary review:
      • Current Transcript of Records (ToR)
      • If applicable, an overview of your current courses
      • Language certificates (English at least B2, German at least B2 if applicable)
    • After a successful preliminary review by the examination team, you will receive a link from the Departmental International Office to formally apply for the exchange semester via the MoveOn database.
    • Complete the application: Once your application is complete, you will receive further information about your stay in Bremen, including accommodation, insurance, and registration details.
    • Get prepared for your stay in Bremen: Find an accommodation, arrange for sufficient insurance, apply for a visa if necessary, and improve your language skills.
    • Course selection: Course offerings at Hochschule Bremen vary depending on the semester. Most modules taught in English are offered during the summer semester. A provisional list of available courses can be found on the website, with the final course selection announced shortly before the semester begins.
    • Please note: In the winter semester, most courses are taught in German.
    • Welcome to Bremen!: 
      Arrive in Bremen and participate in orientation days.
    • October: Start of the winter semester (October - March). It's time to begin your exchange semester at Hochschule Bremen and explore the city.
