13 Steps: 13 steps to your job – Career Service Hochschule Bremen

Step 1: German is your super power

Can you read the German version of this website? (Change to German by clicking "DE" in the upper right hand corner.)

Yes? Great!
No? Make learning German your Number One Priority! It will be so much easier to find a job in Germany if you can speak the language. Yes, there are exceptions, but they are not the rule!

Priority number one while looking for a job is learning the language. Without good German skills you have disadvantages at the German job market. For sure there are exceptions, some international companies also employ alumni without German knowledge if you have very good English skills instead. But your chances for a good job are way much higher if you learn the German language and continuously work on expanding your skills.

Here is what you can do: use every possibility to learn German, register for a German class, use the self-learning resources offered at the Universities, start reading the news in German, go to the movies, but most of all: talk to Germans! Make it a rule to practise your German every day.
