FreiRAUM@HSB Makerspace

Turn your idea into reality

[Translate to English:] Maker Space

It's hard to believe, but the FreiRAUM@HSB makerspace will soon be celebrating its second anniversary! All members of the university can work on their own innovative ideas there - alone or as part of a creative teaching format.

Previous technical experience is helpful but not necessary to use the makerspace; our team is happy to support users in implementing their ideas. We have a wide range of machines and tools at our disposal, enabling us to implement a wide range of projects. We can produce high-quality functional models made of wood, plastic or metal, as well as low-threshold handicrafts made of cardboard or polystyrene to give shape to your idea.

What can our makerspace be used for?

A makerspace helps to lower the barriers to entry into the world of innovation and product development and offers a practical environment for creative minds to implement ideas easily and free of charge. This is how our makerspace can be used:

  • Innovative teaching formats: Teachers can introduce their own creative teaching formats into the makerspace. This allows students to try out their creativity during the course and work on their own innovative projects. We have already cooperated with several lecturers: In addition to several individual events, a bionics hackathon has already taken place in the makerspace; two further hackathons in the fields of robotics and space systems and software engineering are currently being planned.
  • Idea validation for innovation & start-ups: Technical or artistic ideas can be validated in the makerspace through the quick and free creation of functional samples: Users can quickly turn their concepts into reality to test their feasibility.
  • Training courses: Training courses on various technologies and tools can be offered in the makerspace. This enables students and employees to expand their skills and familiarize themselves with the latest technologies.
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration: The makerspace promotes collaboration between different disciplines. Students from different disciplines can come together to realize projects and learn from each other.
  • Community building: A makerspace creates a community of like-minded people who are interested in innovation and technology. This offers the opportunity to network, exchange ideas and form teams for future projects.
