Valentin Koller, research assistant and doctoral candidate, Hochschule Bremen City University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the University of Wuppertal.
I am a research assistant and doctoral candidate in the Civil Engineering Department at Bremen University of Applied Sciences. My research focuses on building information modelling (BIM) with a particular emphasis on uncertainty management.
As part of my doctoral thesis entitled ‘Uncertainty Management in Building Information Modelling (BIM) – Integrating Use Cases Iteratively into Projects and Companies’, I am developing a method for identifying, measuring and specifically reducing uncertainties in BIM processes. This is based on risk management approaches in combination with iterative-incremental process models. The aim is to improve the integration of BIM use cases both at the project level and in company-wide processes, thereby increasing the reliability and efficiency of digital planning methods.
The doctoral thesis is supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anton Worobei (Department of Construction Management, Bremen University of Applied Sciences) in cooperation with Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dipl.-Wirt. -Ing. Anica Meins-Becker (University of Wuppertal). The research project is funded by the Detlef Hegemann Foundation and the third-party funded project ‘HSB-BestPROfessur – Bremen Model for the Recruitment and Development of Professorial Staff’.
