Head of Construction and Environment Department

Teaching Area: "Steel Construction and Statics"

The field of "Structural Analysis" covers both the teaching of the fundamentals of structural analysis up to high-quality calculation methods in civil engineering. Students are taught competencies in the following areas of structural analysis using long-span building structures, dynamically stressed infrastructure structures or shell structures in energy and environmental technology that are subject to stability risks:

  • Linear and nonlinear statics of beam and shell structures,
  • Beam stability theories
  • Plate and shell buckling
  • Fundamentals of structural dynamics

In addition, fundamental knowledge is imparted in the teaching area "steel construction" in the areas of

  • metallurgy,
  • Structural safety and serviceability,
  • material fatigue,
  • joining techniques (Fig. 2 below) as well as
  • Impact energy and fracture toughness,

taught, with the aim of providing a holistic education in the fields of "steel construction and structural analysis".

Consulting hours

In the lecture-free period by appointment (e-mail).
