Hochschule Bremen (HSB) joins the nationwide initiative #HochschulenZeigenHaltung (Universities take a stand. PDF, German, 293 KB).
In doing so, it sends a clear message in support of democracy, diversity and an open, inclusive university culture.
The initiative has emerged from a broad network of diversity, equality and anti-discrimination campaigners at universities. The aim is to draw attention to anti-democratic and racist attempts to influence and attacks on academia and universities, whilst at the same time formulating a clear commitment to an open, supportive and pluralistic university culture.
Universities are places of free thought, academic curiosity and critical dialogue. These values form the basis of research and teaching – and are also central pillars of our democratic society.
With the nation wide campaign „Hochschulen zeigen Haltung“ Universities in Germany take a stand for Democracy, diversity, anti-discrimination and academic freedom.
„HSB stands for critical thinking, diversity and open dialogue. That is precisely why it is important that we work together to champion these values and raise their profile“
Dr. Sabina Schoefer Vice President of Digitalisation, Change Management and Diversity
Hochschule Bremen regards diversity as a key cross-cutting issue. People from different disciplines, cultures and walks of life come together here to study, conduct research, work and develop new perspectives. This diversity is what defines us. And it makes us strong. For we embody internationalism and openness to the world through tolerance and respect. These values are an important part of our mission statement. They enrich and strengthen our (campus) life.
