    1. Title and description

    Title: Course evaluation at Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences

    Description: Course evaluation forms part of Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences’ quality management process and is carried out each semester in accordance with the university’s Evaluation Regulations (dated 25 November 2008).

    2. Data controller and contact details

    Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences is responsible for data processing.

    4. Purpose of data processing

    The purpose of the evaluation is to continuously review the quality of teaching and study programmes and to improve them where necessary. It forms the basis for structural and content-related measures aimed at reforming the university, as well as for the accreditation of degree programmes. The evaluation is intended to ensure transparency regarding the quality of study programmes and teaching, including the framework conditions, whilst guaranteeing faculty- and department-specific feedback as well as individual feedback at the level of teaching staff.

    5. Categories of personal data

    Teacher’s personal details

    The following personal data is required from you as part of the course evaluation: title, first name, surname, HSB email address (or private email address, subject to your consent), institution, course (associated degree programme, type of course, course title)

    Special categories of personal data as defined in Article 9(1) of the GDPR – i.e. data revealing ‘racial or ethnic’ origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership, as well as genetic data, biometric data, health data, and data concerning sex life or sexual orientation – are not collected.

    6. Legal basis for data processing

    The data controller processes the personal data collected from you for the course evaluation in accordance with Article 6(1)(c) (legal obligation) and (e) (task carried out in the public interest) in conjunction with Section 69 of the BremHG and the Evaluation Regulations of the Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences dated 25 November 2008.

    If your private email address is to be used for the purpose of conducting the course evaluation, it will be processed on the basis of your consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You are under no obligation to provide us with your private email address. Contact via your HSB email address is preferred.

    7. Other recipients or categories of recipients of personal data

    • Report on the course evaluation results to the relevant quality officers in the respective faculties (Deans of Studies)
    • Blubbsoft GmbH is the provider of the Zensus software. A data processing agreement has been concluded in accordance with Article 28 of the GDPR.
    • No data will be transferred to any other recipients.

    8. Transfers of personal data to a third country or to an international organisation

    Your personal data will not be transferred to a third country or to an international organisation.

    9. Retention period for the central evaluation team

    Personal data is deleted from the system five years after a survey has been completed.

    10. Information about your rights (data subject rights)

    Those employed by the university under a contract of employment or service, as well as lecturers and honorary professors, are obliged to participate in the evaluation. They may at any time exercise the following rights in relation to their personal data:

    • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR): You have the right to request confirmation from us as to whether personal data relating to you is being processed and, if so, what data this is and the specific circumstances of the data processing.
    • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): You have the right to request that we rectify any inaccurate personal data concerning you without delay. In doing so, taking into account the purposes of the processing, you also have the right to request that incomplete personal data be completed – including by means of a supplementary statement.
    • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): If you have provided a private email address, you have the right to request that we erase it without undue delay.
    • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR): You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data.
    • Right to data portability (Article 20 of the GDPR): You have the right, where processing is based on consent (Article 6(1)(a) or Article 9(2)(a) of the GDPR) or for the performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)), to receive the personal data concerning you that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and to transmit those data to another controller without hindrance from us, or to have the data transmitted directly to the other controller, insofar as this is technically feasible.
    • Right to object (Article 21 of the GDPR): You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(e) or (f).

    If you have consented to the processing of your data (Article 6(1)(a) or Article 9(2)(a) of the GDPR), you may withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future (Article 7(3) of the GDPR), without this affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of your consent up until the time of withdrawal.

    11. Right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority

    You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority regarding our processing of your personal data (Article 77 of the GDPR). The competent supervisory authority is:

    12. Automated decision-making (including profiling)

    Your personal data will not be processed for the purposes of automated decision-making (including profiling) in accordance with Article 22(1) and (4) of the GDPR.
