More than 40 scientists from STARS EU came together at the partner institution University West in Trollhättan (Sweden) to take part in a workshop. The purpose? To strengthen and further develop research collaboration within the alliance. Participants listened to presentations on research topics, exchanged experiences and discussed possible future collaborations within STARS EU. Scientists from Bremen University of Applied Sciences (HSB) were also present to strengthen the international network. Participants listened to presentations on research topics, exchanged experiences and discussed possible future collaborations within STARS EU. Scientists from the University of Applied Sciences Bremen (HSB) were also present to get to know the international network. What did they take away from the workshop? Here are a few insights
"I have been thinking for some time about returning to research in the field of electrical engineering – probably with a focus on energy and electrification. However, the international university context is still new territory for me. In Trollhättan, I had the opportunity to participate in the STARS EU meeting and search for new research collaborations together with colleagues from all over Europe. This led to many inspiring conversations. It was impressive to see how many dedicated researchers came together in one place. And the nature in Sweden also left a lasting impression. I was able to identify a few potential collaborators for future research project ideas."
"I hoped that the workshop would introduce me to exciting topics and didactic approaches. I was particularly interested in the work-integrated learning approach of University West, as it is very similar to the challenge-based learning I practise. I wanted to engage in exchange and put my own teaching and research projects up for discussion. I was able to achieve both of these goals. There were exciting presentations, but above all there were interesting and inspiring encounters that once again highlighted the value of getting to know people personally. I returned home not only with new good ideas, but also with a few valuable contacts. I want to continue the discussions and look into joint applications."
"Through my participation, I have gained a better understanding of STARS EU for joint teaching and research areas and activities. I was able to meet colleagues from other STARS EU universities in person and find researchers at an international level who have similar research topics, research backgrounds and teaching areas to me,‘ says the professor of social work theories and methods. ’For my future plans, I will keep a closer eye on the opportunities this network offers for International University Weeks, joint teaching formats and research activities."
Furhter workshops on research as part of STARS EU are planned for the future. The STARS EU team will let researchers know about these opportunities in good time via the relevant mailing lists.
