On one hand, humans navigate the world effortlessly by blending sight, sound, touch, and balance into a seamless sense of where we are. On the other hand, robots must learn to do the same, just with cameras, LiDAR, GPS, and inertial sensors. This presentation explores how sensor fusion combines these inputs so that the strengths of one sensor cover the blind spots of another. We will focus on building intuition for what each sensor "perceives" and why no single one is enough on its own. Examples will illustrate how these systems succeed and what happens when they break down.
