„Bio-what?“ Perspectives of Engineers on Cooperation with Biology and Medicine

Summary

Biomechanics, biomedical engineering, bionics – there is a long history of interaction between biological and engineering sciences. Building on this, biomechatronics has been realized and taught in Ilmenau for 25 years. Using examples from our own work, we will explain the relationships between the aforementioned Bio-X disciplines, where they overlap, and what their specific characteristics are. In doing so, we will compare the strategies of scientific work in natural and engineering sciences, and examine the significance of the aspects of ‘methods’ and ‘applications’.

Participation

The presentations will be broadcast via the ZOOM video conferencing system. There are two ways to participate:
