How to Become a Scholarship Student

Germany Scholarship
Scholarships for the winter semester 2018/18

Bremen University of Applied Sciences expects to grant 120 scholarships under the “Germany Scholarship” programme as per the winter semester 2018/19, among which roughly 50 for a first support. The scholarship amounts to 300 EUR per month.

Of the scholarships provided for a first support we grant

• General scholarships

that are not linked to a certain faculty or a particular course of studies.

In addition to that, scholarships in the following fields are offered:
• Economics
• Social Sciences
• Architecture, Construction and Environmental Engineering
• Electrical Engineering and Informatics
• Nature and Technology

Anyone can apply for a Germany Scholarship, provided he/she is registered as a full student at Bremen University of Applied Sciences, studies within the standard period of studies and is not in the final semester of the standard period of studies at the beginning of the grant period, or has been admitted for studies as a prospective student to Bremen University of Applied Sciences.

The application period will start from 1. Juni 2018 and application has to be submitted
by 31 July 2018 online on our website.

In case you have just been admitted to Bremen University of Applied Sciences for the winter semester 2018/19, you may submit the application for a Germany Scholarship until
31 August 2018.

The Germany Scholarship intends to support gifted students, who allow for expectations of outstanding performance in their studies or professional life, or who already have shown the same, whereby societal commitment, willingness for assuming responsibility and special social or personal circumstances are taken into account.

The scholarship is not affected by receiving payments according to the “Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz (Federal Education and Training Assistance Act, BAföG)” or the income situation. Only students already receiving another scholarship, i.e. a talent- or merit-dependent sponsorship from a public or publicly funded domestic or foreign institution, amounting to at least 30 EUR per month, are excluded from a sponsorship through the Germany Scholarship.

The scholarships are granted according to the provisions of the statutes of Bremen University of Applied Sciences for arranging the granting of Germany Scholarships. Based on the evaluated applications, the selection committee compiles a ranking for granting the scholarships. The Rector approves the scholarships based on the decision of the selection committee. No legal claim can be made with regard to the scholarship or the scholarship value.

The scholarship is granted for two semesters initially and is expected to be paid for the first time on 1 November 2018, backdated to 1 September 2018.
