The Master's in European Studies is the perfect preparation for your career in or with the EU

The Master's in European Studies is a practice-oriented postgraduate course. You will take courses in private and public management, law, economics and politics - always with the European Union in mind. After the first introductory weeks of study, you will get to know “Brussels”, more precisely the EU institutions and the public and private sector organizations that interact with them, at our intensive seminar in Brussels, which we run together with partner institutions from Riga and Western Switzerland.

In order to fully prepare you for your career - be it a career in the EU institutions, in the diplomatic service or in the government and administration of member states or EU partner states or in business - you also have the opportunity to participate in a career development program or to take courses in intercultural management, group processes or personal skills development. Career opportunities for graduates of the European Studies Master's program range from leadership positions in the private and public sectors to lobbying activities and political office.

Choose Your Track - 2, 3 or 4 Semesters

Depending on your previous degree, you can study the Master's Programme in European Studies in three different ways.

2-semester programme (60 ECTS): for applicants holding at least 240 ECTS from a prior degree
3-semester programme (90 ECTS): for applicants holding at least 210 ECTS from a prior degree
4-semester programme (120 ECTS): for applicants with 180 ECTS, e.g. most international Bachelor's degrees

Most four-year bachelor's degrees from countries such as India, Bangladesh or Pakistan are regarded as equivalent to a German bachelor's degree with 180 ECTS. This classification is based on official regulations issued by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB).
You can verify the classification of your degree in the Anabin database provided by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK).

Go to the Anabin website.
In the field "Länder" select the country where you completed your bachelor's degree.
(Optional) Enter your degree title in "Abschlusstypen" (e.g. Bachelor of Engineering).
Click the magnifying glass icon (?) to start the search.
In the results list, click the column "Bewertung" (Evaluation):
"entspricht" = equivalent to a German degree
"bedingt vergleichbar" = partially comparable (individual review needed)
"nicht vergleichbar" = not comparable
If your degree is listed as "entspricht" and classified as a "Bachelor 3j" (3-year bachelor), it is typically based on 180 ECTS – which qualifies you for the 4-semester track.
