Relevance to Practice

Scholarly and practical application
The teaching contents of ISEB are to a great extent scholarly or research oriented while at the same time tying in with current issues of practice. This is highlighted by the fact that the skills taught in individual courses and lectures are reviewed in the project study completed in the 2nd semester on the basis of concrete scholarly problems. In addition, in the 3rd semester the Knowledge Forum module must be completed, a module aimed at involving students closely in current research projects.
The Project study
The project-based course requires that the students, on the basis of generalist management theories and a sound knowledge of political economics and business management, combined with social skills, independently analyze problems of actual practice in a sound scholarly manner and develop proposed solutions. In the project-based course--as has been explained--students must carry out a project in which the participants have to transfer their general theoretical knowledge to the special features and concrete problems of international organisations and/or enterprises. The analyses must be set down in the form of a project report and presented as a paper to the other participants.
The Knowledge Forum
In the third semester, in which the Master's thesis is also completed, the Knowledge Forum takes place, the aim of which is to involve students closely in current research projects. The Knowledge Forum offers the university's Master's students--as has been explained previously--insight into current regional, national and international research work in various areas of political economics and business management. The course serves as an exchange and as a discussion forum for the research results of the students themselves, of the university's internal research institutions as well as of noted external experts. The impulses gained from the discussions serve to support the experts and the Master's students in their work. The Knowledge Forum also contributes to the reciprocal coordination of current research activities.
