Course Sequence (Modules)

Course of study organisation and international orientation
The period spent abroad, which serves the purpose of obtaining a further European study degree (in the form of a joint honours degree), is an integral part of the course and offers the basis for a qualification on an international scale. As university cities you can select Caen / Le Havre, Granada (E), Leeds (GB) or Glamorgan/Cardiff (GB) .

The degree course forms a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Business Management, with the main emphasis lying in European finance and accountancy.

Students’ qualifications result from the convincing combination of the training steps and levels involved on national and international scales:

• In the first two study years at the local college in Bremen, specialised technical skills with an emphasis on international financial business as well as international accountancy and controlling, are laid out.
• This is supported through further important disciplines of an education in economics. Besides the formal bases of business mathematics, business statistics and information technology as well as accountancy, these are above all the legal foundations and the national business categorisation of company decision processes in the international business environment.
• The first two years of the foundation course is rounded off with a specialised language training, in which business management content is taught in the chosen foreign language. In this way, students become prepared to step into the high standard of the third study year at the overseas guest college and together with the mother tongue speakers there, who are also in their third year, qualify for the full corresponding degree course of the guest country.
• In the third year, EFA students switch over to one of the partner colleges, in order to qualify at a very high calibre together with the third year students there for the certification of the degree course of the guest country. These two international certifications provide students with a further plus point, in form of a supplementary qualification recognised by international employment markets. But almost more essential for the third year abroad, however, is the acquisition of inter-cultural competence. Our students are not only guests at the partner college, but make a binding commitment to the course there and complete the full course of study of the guest country. For this, in addition to language skills, international competency and team-work is required, which provides graduates of the EFA degree course with a significant supplementary qualification, compared to other business management degree courses.
• The international specialisation and social competence gained by EFA students in this manner, is rounded off with a practice-related training in self-competency in the final seventh semester. In a fifteen-week traineeship, students become familiarised with the concrete application of learnt theory to business practice.

Following this fundamental experience, the ability to actively self-motivate and apply learnt practical skills is schooled through the consequent co-operation between fellow students in a project, which allows them to work on and present a practice-oriented theme. The Bachelor thesis connects to this, in form of an independent scientific achievement.

The entire degree ends with the award of a joint degree.
