Which fields can I study at Bremen City UAS?

Various bachelor degree programmes and several master programmes are offered by our faculties:

Do I have to pay a semester fee?

Bremen does not have semester fees. Nonetheless, you will have to pay a contribution to social services of less than 300 € per semester.

What do I get from paying the semester contribution?

  • Your semester ticket. With this you can use the local trams and buses all day, as well as regional trains
  • Some part of the contribution supports the AStA of Bremen City UAS, also knows as "Allgemeiner Studierenden Ausschuss" which is the student's committee.
  • Part of the contribution also supports the "Studentenwerk", which runs our cafeteria and various student housing complexes.

Can I get support with my apartment search?

Bremen City UAS does not offer accommodation on campus. However, you can find a collection of useful links of websites about living space for students here or on the Studentenwerk's Website.

How can I improve my German skills?

If you already have a certificate but want to refresh your German skills, you can for example enroll in a four-week Summer School programme offered by Bremen City UAS. If you are already in Germany or wish to participate in an intensive language course before classes begin: Attend one of the many private language schools in Bremen. Of course you can also take language courses in your home country, e.g. at the Goethe Institute, which has offices in about 76 countries. Can I get financial support?

The Bremen City UAS does not offer a funding support for students but takes part in a scholarship programme called Deutschlandstipendium, which supports talented students. What are the requirements for studying a Bachelor at Bremen City University of Applied Sciences?

Requirements depending on the Bachelor’s degree program

When applying for a bachelor degree programme at the Bremen City University of Applied Sciences, you must submit evidence of your eligibility based on your previous school education or professional qualification - thus proving that you will fulfill the necessary standard requirements for entry.

Some bachelor degree programmes have specific requirements such as a completed vocational training, professional education (apprenticeship) or an internship of a certain duration. This has to be completed in whole or in part, by the first day of classes. Submit a corresponding practical training certificate together with your other application documents when applying. Please note that Bremen City University of Applied Science does not make arrangements for practical training.

What are the language requirements?

The Bremen City UAS demands excellent German skills (= Level C1). For evidence, please submit an official certificate. For example, you can hand in a TestDaF-Exam (Test of German as foreign Language) with a score of 16 points. Please hand in an officially certified copy of your documents translated into German or English.

How do I apply?

If you completed your school and university qualifications outside the German schooling system, you have to apply via uni-assist.

Where can I find further information?

  • You can only apply for the winter semester (Deadlines: here)
  • Arrive on time - Plan to arrive mid-September. Make sure to know when your classes start! Some programmes offer preparation courses, which normally start by mid-September. It is advisable to attend this course, because it is a great opportunity to brush up your knowledge in that subject AND to meet your future fellow students.
  • Approval notifications will not be sent per paper post but as a pdf to download from the online-portal. You will receive an e-mail regarding changes of your status.
  • The admission form will contain the period of enrolment. In case you cannot be present during this period of time: The enrolment can be carried out via post or after your arrival on campus.

What are the requirements for studying a master programme at Bremen City University of Applied Science?

Requirements depending on the Master’s degree program

To study a master programme at Bremen City UAS, you will need a bachelor degree. The required amount of ECTS-Points varies and depends on the course. Each master programme has its own study course page. You can find the different requirements listed there. The application deadlines for the master courses vary! Please make sure to know when your classes start!

What are the language requirements?

To study a master programme taught in German, you will also need excellent German skills (=Level C1). Score 16 points on TestDaF (Test of German as a Second Language). Are there exceptions from the German language test?

If one of the following cases applies to you, you may request an exemption from the language test.

  • The following master programmes: Electronics Engineering M.Sc., International Master in Economics and Business Administration MBA (Offered by the International Graduate Center), Master in European Studies M.A. (Offered by the International Graduate Center), Master in Global Management MBA (Offered by the International Graduate Center), East Asian Management MBA (Offered by the International Graduate Center) and Master in International Tourism Management MBA (Offered by the International Graduate Center) are taught in English as well.
  • Applicants with a university degree in German language or literature may apply for an exemption of this test. In order to get this exemption, please contact an International Student Advisor from the International Office.

How do I apply?

Use the applicants' portal HISinOne for your application. You will receive your notification of Acceptance or Non-Acceptance as a pdf-file to download from the portal. After successful online application, you will find the necessary details such as when and where to send your documents for the enrolment in the Notification of Acceptance.

Send the complete application documents (signed application form and requested documents) before the deadline. Please hand in an officially certified copy of your documents. Don't send original documents.
