The course offers an overview of research projects on transport, regional and urban economics conducted by the instructors such as research on sustainable port development, Hinterland traffic management, benchmarking of sea and airports and performance assessment of privatisation and regulation of public utilities. The content will also be determined by the interests of the students.
All students. Good knowledge of micro and macroeconomics.
The course offers an introduction and practical guide to applied research in Transportation Economics and Management. The students gain from the experience of research projects of the instructors and their respective institutions. It will enable students to develop their own research question after a comprehensive literature review, to choose and apply an appropriate method and to present and discuss their results. This should help BA and MA students in their development of future thesis.
Lectures will be reduced to a minimum. Case studies will be discussed. Active participation is key and required. No final test, instead continuous assessment of different fields of activities. The course is open for international students as well as for Bachelor and Master students. The course will be taught in English.
