Creative and Effective (Group) Presentations

Presentations at university or in your future working environment require more skills than simply creating PowerPoint slides.

When presenting a topic various aspects need to be taken into consideration: What is the purpose of your presentation? What are your objectives? Who is your audience? Which means of visualization might be most effective in a given context?

Especially working and presenting in a team requires very different skills to working on your own. How do you divide the work? How do you recognize and make the most of each team member's individual strengths? How do you support each other when difficulties arise? How can you perform as a team?

Consistency and continuity are important elements to look and sound professional and well prepared. A team presentation should be more than a sum of its parts.

At the end of the course students are expected to be able to:

- identify their personal strengths and weaknesses when presenting a topic

- reflect their role in a team presentation

- demonstrate a selection of creative presentation skills

- give a coherent presentation in a team

Zielgruppe

incoming students and other Hochschule Bremen students

Zielsetzung

The seminar offers a practical training in various aspects of presentation skills: improving your eloquence, presenting in virtual or personal settings, presenting on your own or as a team, presenting in an academic or professional environment

Methode

Combination of live sessions on campus and in ZOOM with lectures, group work, discussions + material on learning platform AULIS.

The course is given in a hybrid form. One session focussing on online presentations takes place in ZOOM.
