Exchange Students

If you would like to study at the Hochschule Bremen - City University of Applied Sciences (HSB) for one or two semesters as an exchange student from a partner university, please contact the International Office at your home university first. They will best be able to inform you of the necessary steps, the application procedure and how the credits earned at HSB will be accepted at your home university.

Most degree programmes offer classes taught in English enabling international exchange students to put together a full workload curriculum (30 ECTS) for one or two semesters. In addition to programme-related classes, we offer several General Studies classes to complement the faculty offers. For detailed information on the syllabi, please check our English Stream.

Please note: In general, the language of instruction is German. If you are proficient in German at the level B2 (= independent user, according to the European Reference Framework for Languages), then, of course, you can also choose classes taught in German!

At HSB, we make things as simple as possible for our international exchange students.

The central International Office offers

  • a simplified admission procedure (online, just ONE form)

  • a Newcomer Service NEWS (enrolment, city registration, accomodation, information on health insurance)

  • various leisure activities (e.g. trips to Berlin or the the Harz mountains, sightseeing in Bremen, sports)

  • our host-family programme "Adopt a student" to connect with Bremen families.

We have compiled all the necessary information to get you prepared for your study-abroad adventure:

  • The Exchange Student To-do-list contains everything that you should take care of in advance.

  • The to-know-list contains useful information about life and studying in Bremen.

In order to provide the best possible service and information for our international exchange students, each faculty operates an own Decentral International Office (DIO). For enquiries directly related to a specific field of studies, please check here for the right co-ordinator in your DIO.
