G E N E R A L R U L E S:
As a place of study, scientific institution and employer, the City University of Applied Sciences Bremen (HSB) bears a special responsibility towards students and employees in the current COVID 19 pandemic. Taking local conditions into account, the university management has made arrangements to comply with the official regulatory measures to contain the pandemic. The regulations are based on recommendations made by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and are continuously adapted according to the infection situation.

Medical masks mandatory - textile everyday masks no longer permitted
New Corona regulation by the Federal Ministry of Labour (German only) - valid from 27th of January 2021:Hochschule Bremens buildings may only be entered with medical face masks (OP-Masken) or FFP2 masks. All members of the Hochschule (employees and students) are to be provided with appropriate masks for necessary visits to the Hochschule. The necessary equipment is to be ordered from the D4. For examinations in attendance, the hygiene concept is considered and checked separately in this regard.
In order to protect themselves and others, all persons are obliged to wear a medical mask: on campus, in all waiting areas, on entering university buildings, in the corridors. For students as well as lecturers, the obligation to wear masks when attending courses already came into effect on 2.11.2020 – also when seated! Persons with proven health impairments are exempt from this rule. A minimum distance of 1.5 metres is to be maintained in all areas, including event and work rooms within the university for which no separate regulations apply.
Which entrance should I use? Access rules and routes

around the university buildings and stay for a limited time when in the
company of their contact person. All persons must wear a suitable MNC. The
designated contact persons are responsible for ensuring that they comply
with the rules.
- HSB employees who have to use certain
rooms or areas in the course of their work have unrestricted access.
- The updated hygiene concepts (German only) shall
also apply to individual work areas (offices, laboratories, workshops

as well as students, guests of the university and
employees of external companies is documented.
What to do in confirmed or suspected case of infection with the corona virus?
If you show symptoms of infection – stay at home!
If you think you are showing symptoms of infection (see the COVID-19 Orientation Guide issued by the RKI), first call your family doctor. Outside regular surgery hours, you can contact the medical on-call service of the Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Bremen (KVHB) (telephone 116 117). You can also call the number 115, which is the ‘Corona-Virus’ information hotline for Bremen.
If symptoms develop while you are at the HSB, you must leave the university immediately (be sure to inform the responsible member of staff on site) and have the suspicion clarified by a doctor. In the event that you have had personal contact with a person who tested positive in the past 14 days, you should stay at home and immediately contact your local public health authority by telephone – even if you are showing no symptoms of infection. They will inform you about the necessary steps to take.
You must notify the HSB crisis management team immediately by e-mail of any suspected or confirmed case of infection (positive test).
Procedure of the University in case of corona (suspected) cases
Please forward any justified suspicion or confirmed case of illness (positive test) immediately by e-mail to the crisis management team at the Hochschule Bremen.
Procedure at the University in case of (suspected) corona cases
- If you are affected (justified
suspicion or confirmed case of illness), please report immediately by e-mail to
the crisis management team at the Hochschule Bremen (be
sure to include a telephone number or mobile phone number). HSB employees
should report additionally to their line manager.
- If the suspicion is confirmed by a
positive test result, the public health authority will contact the person
concerned and, if necessary, the university to identify possible contact
persons. As far as we are able and legally permitted to do so within the
framework of data protection, we will provide our support.
- In consultation with the person concerned and his or her organisational unit, a qualified group of individuals then jointly takes care of forwarding the participation/contact lists with name, e-mail and/or telephone number to the public health authority.
