The degree programme Applied Therapeutic Sciences in Speech and Language Therapy and Physiotherapy makes you fit to meet the changing requirements and needs of this field within the health care system. The aim is to expand the professional skills you acquired during your specialized vocational training with academic field-specific studies in health sciences and to acquire competence in research methods.

Speech therapists and physiotherapists are confronted with constantly changing challenges due to socio-demographic developments and the changed disease panorama as well as the fast-growing proportion of a culturally (and linguistically) heterogeneous population.

This results in the necessity of independent, self-responsible clinical diagnostics and therapy as well as communication and activities in multi-professional contexts. These are essential prerequisites for helping patients and their relatives regain participation and quality of life.

The programme, which builds on the earlier vocational training, takes up this challenge to teaching and research and offers the opportunity for a future-oriented academic education and a successful career path.

Career prospects

Graduates are able to access new fields of activity beyond working with patients in clinics and practices. For example, offers for special groups of people such as multilingual and intercultural patients and people of different ages with multiple illnesses as well as tasks surrounding prevention, early detection, early support and rehabilitation in day-care centres, schools, companies, homes and city districts.
