AULIS

AULIS is HSB’s central learning and cooperation system for online support of teaching and learning. It is used to accompany classroom teaching and for web-based study off campus. Students and lecturers alike can use AULIS. The technical basis is provided by the open-source software ILIAS.

AULIS provides functions by means of which typical teaching-learning activities can be planned and carried out online, in particular for the following processes:

  • Room and team organisation (courses, groups, folders, booking pools...)
  • Provision of multimedia knowledge resources (web links, files...)
  • Creation of web-based learning content (wikis, learning modules, mediacasts...)
  • Synchronous/asynchronous communication and cooperation (mail, forums, web conferences...)
  • Evaluation and assessment (surveys, exercises, online tests...)
  • Competence reflection and presentation (blogs, portfolios...)

Video server

The MMCC provides the HSB's video server at the Internet address video.hs-bremen.de. There, teachers and employees of the HSB can independently make videos available for streaming. The uploaded videos are automatically converted into MP4 format. Four different ranges can be set for the visibility of the videos on the server. You need a user account for the upload. You can apply for this informally by e-mail.

Video conference applications

Video conference applications enable you to communicate directly with two or up to several hundred participants through video and audio transmission via the Internet. It is also possible to share screen contents, e.g. for documents and presentations, as well as chats for questions, answers and voting, virtual rooms for division into working groups and many other useful functions.

Currently, the following video conference applications are available directly via your HSB user account:

  • Adobe Connect
  • BigBlueButton
  • Zoom

We offer trainings and support for these video conference applications, you can find our current workshop-programme here (German only). Additional information and helpful materials are provided in our AULIS-room "Hochschul- und Mediendidaktik" (German only). Please login to AULIS, before clicking on the link, or you won't be forwarded properly.

Online-Whiteboard Collaboard

Collaboard is an online-whiteboard, which allows you to work simultaneously on an infinite board. Different people/groups can add content at the same time. Collaboard can also structure your courses by moving through different steps on the board and adding videos and links. There are templates for mindmaps and for visualizing content.

Other than Zoom and AULIS, Collaboard does not (yet) work automatically with your HSB-account, but teachers can get a free license simply by contacting zll-support@hs-bremen.de.

We offer training and support for getting into and using Collaboard, you can find our current workshop-programme here (German only). Additional information and helpful materials are provided in our AULIS-room "Hochschul- und Mediendidaktik" (German only). Please login to AULIS, before clicking on the link, or you won't be forwarded properly.
