Course Content
The International Degree Programme in Tourism Management (ISTM) places great emphasis on internationality and the acquisition of subject, leadership, social and intercultural competencies, and this is reflected in the content of the course.
This internationality is primarily promoted by the learning of a foreign language, the constant contact with visiting foreign students from partner universities as well as the year abroad.
The requisite subject competence is acquired in the courses offered in general and tourism-specific business management. An integral component is the Learners' Company, which is carried out in collaboration with the university's International Degree Course in Applied Leisure Studies. In the 4th and 7th semesters, students apply the subject knowledge they have acquired to practical projects in the Learners’ Company.
Social and intercultural competence is fostered in modules such as Communication/Rhetoric, Psychology as well as Intercultural Management and Behavioural Training and also during the year abroad. Leadership competence is developed when students work independently in groups, on exercises and during presentations.
