Course Content
The International Degree Programme in Global Management (ISGM, B.A.) combines the disciplines of international management and intercultural management. The geographic focus is on emerging economies. The course is skills based and analyses not only economic but also legal and ethical aspects of globalisation. Students also improve their language skills.
The prescribed period of study for the ISGM course is seven semesters. Students spend four semesters at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen, two semesters abroad and one semester writing up their dissertation.
During their four semesters at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen students acquire a broad range of skills in business, law, foreign languages and intercultural management. Given the range of topics dealt with, the teaching is often done with the aid of examples; students are encouraged to develop their own strategies, and also the ability to solve problems in groups.
The 5th and 6th semesters are spent abroad in an emerging economy. Learning the language of the country where the student will spend their year abroad (Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian) is as much a core component of the curriculum as the systematic preparation for, and reflection on the year abroad. This year involves one semester of study and a 20-week internship. The foreign internship creates a particularly interesting link between theory and practice – you obtain an insight into the world of employment in the country of your choice. You then return to Bremen to write up your dissertation.
