The degree course combines administration-specific and business management elements with practical experience and a year abroad. In the first three semesters basic skills in business, personnel management, law, European affairs and social sciences are acquired. The 5th and 6th semesters cover the year abroad. In the advanced part of the degree (4th and 7th semesters), students can specialise in two main fields of their choice taken from the areas of accountancy and controlling, business development / town and country planning, company management, science funding and the management of welfare and non-profit organisations. The completion of the Bachelor thesis enables students to graduate in the 7th semester with a Bachelor of Arts.

ESWV does not only represent business and administration, but also an innovative degree course which proves itself through its versatile nature. The combination of business and law with an international orientation not only make the graduates of this degree course attractive to the public sector, but also to the private sector.
The federal government, federal states and local authorities perform a wide variety of tasks for their citizens. These range from school and university to business development, city and transport planning through to social welfare. There has been a noticeable change within these areas of responsibility over the past ten years. It has become more important that the public sector must behave like service companies in the private sector.

Scarcer financial resources mean staff must not only think about the service aspect but also deal with the challenge of fulfilling their tasks in as economical a way as possible. This is why staff in this area are increasingly required to have knowledge of business administration, to be flexible and able to work in teams.
ESWV aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed for public sector management, be it the administration of a city or a federal state, public companies such as power suppliers, hospitals or business development associations through to privatised companies.

ESWV graduates typically work in areas within these institutions such as organisation, personnel management, accountancy or marketing (such as city marketing), which have greatly increased in significance in recent years.
