With the consecutive Master’s Degree (Master of Engineering) in Computer Based Mechanical Engineering (CBME), students are provided with an innovative educational concept, which offers a variety of possibilities in order to justify the demands of the globalisation of markets and the international interconnection of companies and research.Computer Based Mechanical Engineering (CBME) encompasses all involved steps from construction, through to the manufacture of systems and products.
The time span from the idea up until the final product or result, is easily reduced through the implementation of C-techniques and the appropriate simulation software.
C-techniques – computer-supported development in the field of engineering – have become increasingly more significant over the past few years for the fields of industry and business. They encompass all the developmental steps from construction over manufacturing of systems and productions through to recycling. Today, even before a new product or system, for example a potential, newly developed component of an automobile can be realised, the entire construction procedure can be calculated and simulated by means of a computer – from the construction sketch over the actual construction and calculation through to its definite completion.
Today, the mastery of software methods is equally required for devices and sensors driven by micro-controllers, as well as also for the planning and simulation of technical and organisational processes.
The technical profile of the CBME study course encompasses an inter-disciplinary field of knowledge, which consists of several overlapping areas.
- A scientific foundation forms an essential pre-requisite for the course. This is conveyed theoretically as well as also reinforced through practical teamwork.
The main field of mechanical engineering, among other things, encompasses computer-based planning and communication technologies, that can today, be summarised by the keyword ‘e-manufacturing’. Its aim is to allow for up-to-date construction, simulation, production, as well as successful quality management.
- Besides the deepening of production technology and computer sciences, the sub-field of production technology and factory work encompasses the application of a computer for the planning and simulation of processes in factories.
- The sub-field of flight and space travel delivers sound skills with regards to the problems of an unmanned spacecraft and the implementation of computers in flow mechanics.
In the course of the seminar-oriented teaching units, deeper skills in the marketable software tools of e-manufacturing among others, are taught. These are accompanied by numerous industry-related applications.
